When I look up, I’m reminded of just how blue the sky can be, how delicate the shadows, how good and beautiful the light.

I’m excited to keep exploring these small pieces and allow them to unfold into a series of larger works this year.

These paintings were created by the river, oils in hand, chasing the ever-changing light. I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the chance to slow down—simply to be—and to soak in the beauty around me. Herons and egrets came and went, and I celebrated every quiet moment with paint.

Each piece reflects the light of the Lowcountry, full of movement, texture, and a deep appreciation for the world right in front of me. And in this time of year, they also remind me of the greater story: that the true Light has come into the world.

I fell in love with the sights of Kiawah River and the richness that oils bring to a canvas, and I hope that same beauty and stillness finds its way into your home.
